Monday July 18, the Saint Martin Football League also known as SMFA (Saint-Martin Football Association) sent a U17 selection to Guadeloupe to participate in the CFU Tournament.

A total of 20 young players from Saint-Martin took off yesterday morning for a week at the inter-regional tournament organized by the Caribbean Football Union. 24 of the 31 teams of the CFU participate.

The young players are accompanied by a technical staff composed of Mr. Hervé HAPPY, technical advisor of the league; Mr. Franck GENDREY and Mr. Patrick MOCKA educators and coaches of this selection; the Secretary General (Deputy Manager) and the League Treasurer (Manager).

The competition, of good level, is divided into six groups of four teams, and each team will play three matches.

Following the draw, the Saint Martin group is number 5.

Each team plays three games.

The calendar for the selection of Saint-Martin is as follows:

- Against Guadeloupe, Wednesday July 20, at 19 p.m. at the Fiesque Duchesne stadium in Baie-Mahault,

- Against Curaçao, Friday July 22, at 16:30 p.m., FD Baie Mahault stadium

- Against the Dominican Republic, Sunday July 24, at 16 p.m., FD Baie Mahault stadium

The Saint-Martin selection was prepared for several months, with conviction, and shows great confidence while remaining lucid, because this is their very first outing in the big leagues.

"This first participation of the U17s in the CFU Tournament will allow us to first assess our level on the Caribbean scale and to initiate a work process to always progress," said the coach, Mr. HAPPY, before the departure.

And to the president, Mr. Fabrice BALY to specify that "the objective of the league is to build a project of territorial representation through a project of three to five years with these young people, real hopes for football in Saint Martin".

The league invites the public to follow this tournament on the Facebook page of the SMFA and to encourage our young athletes. _AF
