The Saint-Martin Football League had the pleasure of moving its U 13 selection to Guadeloupe from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 February 2017 as part of a tournament organized by Stade Lamentinois.
Twenty teams were on hand, including the guest team from Martinique "Mon Pito" as well as the Selection U 13 from Saint-Martin.
With a 1 to O victory, four draws and a single defeat, the young footballers of Saint-Martin gave a good image of their island.
As projected in the story of David and Goliath, our young people first had to face opponents with much larger builds and then they encountered more aggressive playing techniques.
Despite intimidation at first sight, which resulted in the only defeat of the day, a few words of encouragement were enough to put some heart in our young Saint-Martin's hearts to motivate them and get as close as possible to victory!
Out of twenty teams, in the first classification, our U 13 selection was first positioned in 16th row, before finally being able to climb to 10th rank thanks to the victory goal scored by Lou Doumenjou.
Little Lou did not go unnoticed during this tournament, she received compliments from former PSG striker Patrice Loko and was awarded a special female prize. The icing on the cake, Lou above all succeeded in capturing the attention of the Rennes stadium recruiter, Philippe Barreau, who did not fail to approach his coaches in order to obtain the contact details of the Sports Technical Adviser of the League and those of his parents.
The overall assessment remains positive, the Football League can be proud of its young people! _AF
