Several representatives of the Fondation de France, currently visiting Saint-Martin, inaugurated a new building consisting of two classes at the Omer Arrondell school in Quartier d'Orléans.

In the aftermath of the devastating passage of hurricane Irma, the Fondation de France, the leading philanthropy network in France, deployed considerable resources to help the population of Saint-Martin by raising funds to set up various projects focused on the reconstruction and economic revitalization of the island. 300.000 euros have been invested in the construction of a building made up of two classrooms at the Omer Arrondell elementary school, underlining the will of the Fondation de France but also of the officials of the Collectivity and the French State to give the capacity to young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods to improve their learning in safe and comfortable conditions. The development project will have been long but the result deserved the patience and determination of the various actors. The building was designed for mobile use, with foldable furniture and digital tools. The two identical rooms in terms of surface will not only be intended for children in their education but also used as a meeting room for teachers, a meeting place with parents and for special attention to pupils in difficulty. Several speakers were pleased to have completed this ambitious project, which proves that solidarity and teamwork prevail over adversity. Speakers: Daniel Gibbs, President of the Collectivity of Saint Martin, Fabien Sese, the new Secretary General and Sub-Prefect of the Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, Christian Climent-Pons, Director of the Reconstruction Project of the education system of Saint-Martin, Karine Meaux, Head of the International Solidarity and Emergencies Department at the Fondation de France,  Julien Brun, account manager at IDP Architectes and Patricia Petchy, Director of the Omer Arrondell Elementary School in Quartier d'Orléans, particularly proud and moved during this official inauguration. _VX
