GASTRONOMY FESTIVAL: Presentation of a check for €5000 to the Lycée Daniella Jeffry

The funds collected during the charity gala of the Festival of Gastronomy were donated to the catering-hotel section of the Lycée Professionnel Daniella Jeffry.

The Tourist Office, organizer of the Gastronomy Festival held last November, wanted Saint Martin's youth to be directly involved in the first edition of this major culinary competition. Aïda Weinum, Director of the Tourist Office, Nathalie Pinthiere-Brooks, local & regional promotion officer and Valérie Damaseau, President of the Tourist Office and Vice-President of the Collectivité, were proud of the enthusiasm expressed by the students of the establishment when the actors of the Tourist Office explained to them the Festival project and their mini-Top Chef competition. The participants had the opportunity to develop recipes with starred chefs, who moreover did not hesitate to lend themselves to the game of clerk to assist them, thus offering them a unique experience. The winner of the competition, Jackicha Hodge, won an internship lasting one to two weeks at the Paul Bocuse Institute, the organization of which is in progress. Her travel and accommodation expenses as well as those of her companion will be fully paid for by the Tourist Office. During the closing evening of the Gastronomy Festival, socio-professionals and guests invited to the gala dinner had the opportunity to make a donation, the proceeds of which would be donated to the catering and hotel section of the school. A check for 5000 euros was therefore given to Catherine Decilap, temporary assistant at the Professional High School Daniella Jeffry, representative of Janine Hamlet, principal who was unable to attend and was sorry not to be able to attend this significant event for the students. This amount will be used for the acquisition of a professional griddle and the purchase of a refrigerated terminal. The Tourist Office is already working hard on preparing for the second edition of the Gastronomy Festival which will take place at the end of 2022, especially since the gastronomy recently highlighted by the latter is a strong pillar of the territory of Saint Martin. _VX
