Gastronomy Festival: St-Martin restaurateurs invited to revisit tamarind

0

As part of the “Taste Saint-Martin” event which will take place from November 13 to 30, 2021, local restaurateurs are invited to create specialties or a menu by cooking the famous small fruit which proliferates in our latitudes. Notice to candidates!

Its brown bean-shaped shell and its tangy sweet taste evoke the culinary secrets of the Antilles and the character of tropical flavors. Local and seasonal, tamarind is featured for this first edition of the Gastronomy Festival orchestrated by the Tourist Office in order to promote the culinary heritage of Saint-Martin and honor the richness of local know-how. Many events will be scheduled from November 13 to 30, including this celebration of our small local fruit which will call on the creativity of our restaurateurs. They are indeed invited to imagine and taste recipes based on tamarind, whether it is a cocktail, a starter, a main course or a dessert. They can also offer a full menu (starter, main course, dessert) as long as each of the dishes revisits the tamarind. Call for candidates!

For the participating restaurateurs, this will be an opportunity to benefit from a good spotlight on their establishment because the Tourist Office plans to promote them, especially on social networks, to arouse the appetite of customers. Also scheduled are visits from culinary journalists and renowned chefs invited to participate in "Taste Saint-Martin".

Tamarind ... and a competition

The restaurateurs participating in this “tamarind tasting” will also be able, if they wish, to compete in “The best table of Saint-Martin 2021-2022” and compete against a committee of culinary experts made up of local and regional French chefs, including Jimmy Bibrac crowned best chef Antilles-Guyane 2020 by the Gault & Millau guide or Michel Portos, 2-star chef from the Michelin Guide. The winners of the competition will benefit from special visibility on the website of the Tourist Office and its restaurant guide.
