A large and enthusiastic audience vibrated on Sunday evening on the occasion of the 2nd edition of the Saint-Martin Jazz Festival with the exceptional presence of Mario Canonge accompanied by his talented musicians and Paul Emmanuel's group "Jazz-Funk Ensemble" programmed in the first part of the evening.

Last weekend, Saint-Martin lived in time with its jazz festival organized masterfully by the association "La Bonne Note" of Serge Weinum. Located at the kiosk of the Front de Mer market, the stage first welcomed Paul Emmanuel's group with himself on bass, Ali Emmanuel on saxophone, Didier Bride on piano, Fred York on drums and the two singers Lavaune Henry and Evan Amato, only 14 years old. The already large audience with the presence of the president of the COM, Louis Mussington, the 1st vice-president, Alain Richardson and the president of the Tourist Office, Valérie Damaseau was won over by the XXL performance of these outstanding musicians.

Mario Canonge, an essential reference in jazz
The magical evening continued with the long-awaited presence on stage of Mario Canonge on piano, Arnaud Dolmen on drums and Michel Alibo on double bass. Together, they presented live their latest album, "Mario Canonge Trio", a daring project that skillfully mixes jazz and Caribbean influences.
The musicians delivered a performance rich in improvisation, immersing the audience in sunny and intoxicating rhythms, typical of their unique style. Mario Canonge, recognized as one of the most eminent contemporary French jazz pianists since the beginning of his career 40 years ago, integrates elements of zouk and biguine into his compositions, creating an innovative fusion that combines jazz complexity and catchy melodies. Accompanied by his faithful companion Michel Alibo on double bass and Arnaud Dolmen, the most prominent and sought-after drummer on the French scene, the trio demonstrated a rare complicity, where each silence carries a meaning. This performance not only highlighted their technical skills, but also immersed the audience in a rich auditory experience, celebrating the essence of Caribbean jazz. What a performance, bravo gentlemen! _AF
