Last Wednesday, at around 10:15 am, the mega yacht “Go” which came out of the Simpson Bay lagoon violently struck the quay of the Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC), following a malfunction of the on-board computer.
The pilot lost control of his vessel, which struck the wooden deck and the SMYC wharf. The damage was relatively heavy on the structure, but fortunately no injuries were to be deplored.
The managers of the nautical club and the insurers met on site to assess the damage.
The main current concern of SMYC leaders is securing the dock, which cannot be used until further notice. The club reported that all water activities planned for this week are currently canceled.
The mega yacht's on-board computer malfunction has been confirmed.
