0

A fire broke out last Monday around 18:30 p.m. in a room on rue Felix Eboué in Marigot. The firefighters intervened quickly and a safety device was put in place by the territorial police to regulate traffic. There are no casualties.

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin immediately went to the scene, to support the families staying in the building. Twenty people bothered by the smoke was evacuated by the firefighters. In collaboration with the Red Cross, the teams of the Collectivity have set up an emergency reception for these people, with water-meal logistics prepared by the Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires, CTOS.

At the end of the evening, the device was finally lifted, the families having been able to return to their accommodation. Only a family living above the fire site decided to spend the night outside the building.

President Daniel Gibbs, who has closely followed the operations in progress, wishes to acknowledge the responsiveness of the SDIS teams, the territorial police and the Community. He warmly thanks the staff of the Red Cross who quickly mobilized to prepare for this reception. Particularly appreciated teamwork.
