On Tuesday December 15, around 19 p.m., a man was the victim of a violent assault in Philisburg. Two individuals, one of whom armed with a knife inflicted severe lacerations on his face and chest before tearing off his gold chain.
The victim was rushed to Sint Maarten Medical Center in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police patrols searched Philipsburg and the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the perpetrators, to no avail.
Later that evening, police received information from the Sint Maarten Medical Center that the victim had been successfully operated on and his condition was stable.
