"Hurex" exercise: A life-size operation!

0

On June 27 and 28, a civil security exercise called "HUREX" (Hurricane Exercise) was organized in Saint-Martin, based on a post-cyclonic scenario.

Conducted at the start of the cyclone season, this exercise has the specific objective of improving the operational response, in accordance with the organization of the civil security response (ORSEC), and the capacity for intervention and reinforcement in the event of a natural disaster.

On June 27, a general reconnaissance of the island was implemented by the gendarmerie, the PAF and the territorial police. The various events foreseen by the scenario (landslides, looting, injuries, etc.) were then processed, managed by the operational center of the Prefecture, in conjunction with the Community and the various intervention services.

On June 28, on the Belle Créole site, an intervention by firefighters (GRIMP group), soldiers from the 33rd RIMA and Dutch soldiers aimed to rescue around thirty victims of the cyclone, to take care of them medically, and to transfer to Marigot hospital.

On this occasion, the Prefecture would like to specifically thank Jean-Marc GERVAIS, the association Jeunesse Soualiga and the Territorial Youth Council, for playing more real than life victims!
