The carnival parade started at 10am last Sunday at the Emilio Wilson estate on LB Scott Road and ended at the Festival Village on Soualiga Road in Philipsburg. The capricious weather did nothing to slow down the participants or the spectators who came in large numbers to attend this colorful parade.

The costumed criss-crossed the streets of Philispburg passing by LB Scott Road, Bush road, Prince Bernard Bridge, Nisbeth road, Percy Labega street, Long-wall road, Emma Plein, WG Buncamper road, Freedom Fighters roundabout then Nisbeth road, without forgetting, of course, Front Street, the nerve center of the parade so eagerly awaited by all. No less than eleven processions followed one another on the cobblestones of the Dutch part, with dancers in flamboyant costumes, all endowed with unparalleled energy. What a pleasure to rediscover the typical atmosphere of a festivity such as the Sint Maarten carnival, known throughout the world for its Caribbean extravagance. During this 2022 edition, the French side of the island was represented by the Kiskeya troupe. Particularly noted for these costumes on the theme of the enchanted garden with three categories that amazed young and old alike: Hibiscus, Bird of Paradise and the Fairy Queen, Kiskeya proved once again that she had her place among the leaders of the parade. .

The Sint Maarten Carnival brings together local and international artists who unite their creative spirit to deliver dazzling costumes and one-of-a-kind choreography. The expectation was great and the party successful. Perfectly supervised by the police forces of Sint Maarten, the day of celebration took place in joy and good humor, the costumed did not fail to put on a show and take the time to pose with the children of the public. , without forgetting the parents who did not shun their pleasure. This 51st edition of the Sint Maarten Carnival has, as usual, brought the population together in a spirit of celebration and sharing. And in these sometimes gloomy times, it was good to enjoy it until the end of the night! _VX
