Eruption of the Soufrière volcano in Saint-Vincent: the Red Cross is appealing for donations!

0

The Soufrière volcano in Saint-Vincent erupted for the first time in 42 years on April 9, leading to the evacuation of thousands of inhabitants on an island currently struck, moreover, by two epidemics: the Covid-19 and the dengue. Nearly 300 people are affected by this disaster, the effects of which are likely to be prolonged.

On alert from December 2020, the French Red Cross with its Caribbean Americas Regional Intervention Platform (PIRAC) has, from April 13, deployed to Saint-Vincent from Martinique, a stock of 40 tons of humanitarian goods with the maritime support of the French Armed Forces present in the Antilles.

The French Red Cross is appealing for donations to support its actions and those of the volunteers of the Red Cross of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines who are on the front line to help the affected populations.
