The hunting of the white-crowned pigeon which had been authorized from September 1, 2018 to January 6, 2019 in Guadeloupe and Saint-Martin, is finally suspended following an order from the judge of summary proceedings of the administrative court of Guadeloupe made Friday.
The association for the protection of wild animals (ASPAS) and the association for the safeguarding and the rehabilitation of the fauna of the Antilles (ASFA) had seized the judge in summary proceedings in order to suspend the decree of June 18, 2018 taken by the prefect of Guadeloupe authorizing this hunt during the said period. They considered that hunting posed "a serious and immediate risk to the preservation of this species in the department of Guadeloupe and the community of Saint-Martin".
