ENVIRONMENT: Strong risk of sargassum stranding until Saturday

According to satellite observations, significant strandings of sargassum were expected on the southern coasts of Saint-Barthélemy yesterday, said the Deal (environmental department) of Guadeloupe in a bulletin published Thursday morning. Groundings have started on the south coast of Saint-Martin but in a more gradual manner.

During the next 24 hours, the grounding forecasts continue and will intensify. In the night from Friday to Saturday, strandings should intensify on the South and East coasts of Saint-Martin. A large raft of sargassum must pass near Saint-Barthélemy.

According to observations, the strandings should stop overnight from Saturday to Sunday. (source: www.soualigapost.com)
