ENVIRONMENT: Cruise lines clean Mullet beach

0

Last Wednesday, thirty-five passenger cruise ships (Fathom and Princess Cruises) stopping in Philipsburg cleaned up the beach at Mullet Bay with the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation. They picked up plastic bags and other debris from Irma. Nearly 270 kg of waste was thus collected in a few hours. The method used is that favored by the 4Ocean protection association consisting in weighing the waste and the use of reusable bags and gloves.

Beach cleaning is an activity offered by cruise lines. This is the third time that passengers stopping over in Sint Maarten have participated in this activity. Through this activity, the aim is to make cruise passengers aware of the environment.
