ENVIRONMENT: How to take biodiversity into account when cleaning gullies

0

A delegation of seven agents from the National Agency for Biodiversity recently came to Saint-Martin at the request of the prefect Sylvie Feucher in order to identify the most serious breaches of the environment code.

Their mission also consisted in drawing up an inventory in terms of biodiversity and in appreciating the environments to be preserved. Among them the gullies which present major environmental challenges.

The officers said they were "surprised" to observe the conduct of "heavy work" in these areas, specifically work using mechanical equipment. “This has consequences for biodiversity. The gullies are sites rich in natural resources. For example, there are fish, frogs and other species there, which should be protected ”, explain the agents who will offer alternative solutions to cleaning the gullies.

"The officers will write a report that I will receive soon and that I will send to the community," says Sylvie Feucher. The COM will have to follow whether or not to follow the recommendations. (soualigapost.com)
