The verdict is in! If France as a whole has chosen to renew Emmanuel Macron for a second five-year term at the Elysée, Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy, Martinique and Guyana have chosen to place his opponent largely in the lead. Marine Le Pen also achieved her best score in Guadeloupe with 69,8% of the votes cast.

In Saint-Martin, the representative of the National Rally came out on top with 3265 votes (55,75%) against 2591 (44,25%) for Emmanuel Macron.

This second round of the presidential election was also marked by a low turnout in the territory. In fact, out of the 19152 people registered on the electoral lists, only 6344 of them  moved to the 19 polling stations on Saturday, a rate of 33,11%, a slight increase despite everything compared to the 1st round (30,8%).

Each presidential election has mobilized very few voters in Saint-Martin. Never more than half of the people on the lists have voted in the past 20 years. In 2017, the participation rate was 26,3% on 1er lap and 30,9% in the second.

For the record, the highest rate was recorded in the second round in 2007 (duel Nicolas Sarkozy – Ségolène Royal); 48,1% of those registered turned out to vote.
