Offered each year in all schools, educational establishments and higher education establishments, for all ages from kindergarten to university, in Metropolitan France and overseas, Olympic and Paralympic Week takes place this week in the territory of Saint-Martin.

Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and Youth, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Sports and the sports movement (CNOSF, CPSF), the Olympic federations and Paralympics as well as the school and university sports federations (UNSS, USEP, UGSEL, FFSU), this week marked under the sign of sport was created following the designation of Paris as the host city of the Games in 2024 in order to promote the practice sport among young people and to mobilize the educational community around civic and sporting values. This year's theme is "sport for the environment and the climate", once again placing these two themes at the center of attention. If the sixth edition will take place from January 24 to 29 in mainland France, the education services of Saint-Martin have organized two special days for students enrolled in Localized School Inclusion Units (ULIS), special classes for the education of students with disabilities.

The first day took place this Wednesday, January 26 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Galisbay nautical base with a cohesion session for associations and schools. The second will take place this Friday, January 28, where first and second grade students will enjoy an aquatic morning on Friar's Bay beach. The aim of Olympic and Paralympic Week is to make students aware of the benefits of regular sports practice. It also aims to mobilize parents around this crucial issue for the good health of children. As for teachers, the added value of this type of initiative is the ability to use sport as an educational tool, to introduce the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines while raising awareness among young people of the values of Olympism and above all, to change young people's view of disability. _VX
