These 15 high school students, 11 from Robert Weinum general and technological high school and 4 from Daniella Jeffry vocational high school, met on Sunday at Grand-Case airport, accompanied by their parents, certainly very moved to see their child leave for two weeks.

The prefect Vincent Berton, the vice-rector Michel Sanz, the referent DRAJES Marc Fabre, the principal of the LGT, Olivier Saunier and the DDFPT Marthe Ogoundélé, were also present to encourage and congratulate these young high school students by inviting them to be proud to represent Saint -Martin and their high school!

The Universal National Service is aimed at all young people aged 15 to 17 for a society of commitment, and is divided into three key stages:

1) A two-week cohesion stay aimed at transmitting a republican base based on collective life, responsibility and the spirit of defence. This stay is carried out in collective accommodation, in a department other than that of residence of the volunteer. During this stay, the young volunteers participate in various collective activities and benefit from individual assessments (illiteracy, digital skills in particular);

2) A mission of general interest aimed at developing a culture of commitment and promoting the integration of young people into society. Based on various methods of achievement, 84 hours carried out over a short period or spread throughout the year, these missions place young people in a position to render a service to the Nation. During this mission of general interest, depending on their situation, volunteers can also be accompanied in the construction of their personal and professional project;

3) The possibility of a voluntary commitment of at least 3 months aimed at allowing those who so wish to commit themselves in a more permanent and personal way for the common good. This commitment is mainly based on existing forms of volunteering: civic service, operational reserves of the armed forces and the national gendarmerie, volunteer firefighters, European voluntary service, etc. This voluntary commitment can be made between the ages of 16 and 30.
