In a recent report, Initiative Saint-Martin Active, underlines the “extremely atypical” aspect of the post Irma economic context.
The platform notes since the beginning of 2018, the appearance of "opportunity activities (in the building in particular)", while fearing that these activities "will be undermined over time". Thus, in 2018, it counted 22 receptions of project leaders in the construction industry against 13 for the same period last year. They are not necessarily professionals. They are always carriers of small projects requiring less than 120 euros of investment. In addition, the closure of many establishments following Irma has, according to Initiative Saint-Martin Active, had the consequence of generating new entrepreneurial vocations "since the economic game is redistributed". The platform thus reports that "many unemployed workers create their own structure". Out of 000 committee appearances, 22 were job seekers this year, or 17% compared to 77% last year. At the same time, there are many restoration projects and Initiative Saint-Martin Active considers that they will have to diversify if they wish to be supported: “the sector will be quickly saturated at the speed of requests for funding applications. Banks are more and more cautious about this type of project ”.
