Polluted water: why are the delays so long?

0

More than four weeks have passed between the day of the sample and the delivery of the results.

The regional health agency (ARS) took samples from the pipes on May 13 and it was not until June 20 that it received the results. Or four and a half weeks later. This almost five-week delay challenges a large number of consumers: why is it so long?

The ARS explained at the community press conference on Tuesday afternoon that it is required to send its samples taken to a center approved by the Ministry of Health, but there are none in the region; in Saint-Barthélemy, facing the same health crisis for almost a year, a laboratory has been equipped with equipment to detect bromate in water, but it is not approved by the Ministry of Health.

In addition, water withdrawals consisted of looking for several elements and some, as also explained by the ARS, require more time than others.

Finally, Saur, which also performs self-checks on the water it produces, sends its samples to the Saint-Barth laboratory, which also needs several days to deliver the results.
