XD and DD were sentenced by the Basse-Terre court on January 10 to one year and two years in prison respectively. But the prosecution had appealed this decision, considering these sentences too light in light of the alleged facts. They had indeed been arrested for trafficking cannabis and cocaine in the French part of Saint-Martin, after a ten-month investigation opened in October 2015. Their trafficking brought them a profit of 28 euros per month. On April 400, the Basse Terre Court of Appeal increased their sentences. XD, 25, was sentenced to five years in prison, three of which were suspended and put on probation for two years, as well as a 23 euro fine. DD, 10, received a three-year prison sentence, two of which were suspended and put on probation for two years, as well as a 000 euro fine also. They are therefore kept in detention.
