293,1 kg of narcotics including 260,6 kg of cocaine, 635 kg of white sea urchins which could have been returned to the water, 835,1 kg of tobacco seized, 136349 euros confiscated for breach of the reporting obligation and more than 7069 counterfeit articles were intercepted by agents of the regional customs directorate of Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands during 2019.

On Tuesday June 30, Philippe Richard, regional director, and his collaborators presented the results of their activities for the past year.

They also recalled the importance of customs tax missions and their central role in the funding of local authorities. Over 448 million euros in fuel tax, dock dues and tobacco tax were thus donated in 2019 to the Regional Council, the Departmental Council and the municipalities of Guadeloupe.

To carry out its missions, customs has 257 agents in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands, nearly 43% of whom are women.
