Since the passage of Irma, a group of scientists from multiple disciplines and brought together under the TIREX project (Transfert des Apprentissages de Retours d'Expériences Scientifiques), analyzes the impacts and follows the territorial reconstruction, by formalizing methods of feedback from ongoing science experiment. Researchers from the University of Montpellier will be present in Saint-Martin on May 20 and 21 to report to the public on the research work carried out since 2017.

ANR TIREX responds to a scientific request "To better understand the mechanisms and production factors of a disaster on outermost island territories marked by strong socio-economic disparities" and to a societal and institutional request "Learn lessons from a such a disaster to anticipate adaptation to the effects of future extreme climatic episodes comparable to those of the 2017 hurricane season in the Lesser Antilles. »
