The Pôle Solidarité et Familles de la Collectivité and its Department for Personal Autonomy organized, on November 22 and 23, meetings to raise awareness of the fight against fuel poverty in partnership with EDF, in Quartier d'Orléans and Concordia in the premises of the Solidarity and Families Pole.

These awareness-raising meetings took place within the framework of the partnership agreement, signed by Vice-President Annick Pétrus and the director of EDF Archipel Guadeloupe, on October 20, 2017, with the objective of jointly fighting against fuel poverty on the territory of Saint-Martin.

One year after signing, the agreement has produced concrete results. In fact, 26 people, including 16 elderly people, have so far been able to benefit from EDF bill payment assistance, subject to means test.

These awareness-raising meetings were able to provide useful answers to all the questions of users who were able to benefit from an exchange space to understand the EDF bill, electricity consumption and learn about the existing financial assistance systems in in the fight against fuel poverty. The users present were also made aware of energy saving, the operation of different types of electric meters, the technical interventions of EDF agents on the electricity network and the new e-services offered by EDF Archipel. This playful information and the good gestures to observe on a daily basis were presented by the animators in the form of games and questions and answers.

The Solidarity and Families Pole is available to the public for any practical question on the consumption of electricity. The People's Autonomy Department invites elderly people experiencing financial difficulties to settle their electricity bill to make an appointment with the social worker of the Solidarity and Families Cluster of the Community.

Note that these information meetings will be renewed every three months.
