According to satellite images, "the days of Saturday March 31 and Sunday 1er April [let] glimpse the presence of a few sargassum rafts about 18 km northeast of Saint Martin and beyond 15 km south of Saint Barthélemy ", indicates the I-SEA design office commissioned by the Deal from Guadeloupe (environment department) to observe the arrival of sargassum.

Sunday, "they were under the influence of currents carried towards the west", notes I-SEA according to which they should not impact the islands of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barth.

The previous days in the region, very many rafts were also observed off the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea side, several were approaching Saint Lucia from the east. Last week was marked by the omnipresence of sargassum in the immediate vicinity of the Guadeloupe archipelago. The groundings were numerous and the massive arrival of sargassum by the South-East is to be followed in the days to come.

On Tuesday, a filiform raft about 25 km long was detected south of Les Saintes. (Source: www.soualigapost.com)
