After 4 years at the head of ARS Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, Dr. Valérie Denux will leave her post on February 9 to join the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products ( ANSM) as Europe and Innovation Director.
Valérie Denux was appointed in March 2018, following the fire at the CHU de la Guadeloupe, in order to manage the reorganization of the territory's healthcare offer. It thus contributed to stabilizing the situation and launched the construction of the new university hospital. It also enabled the construction of a transitional level 3 maternity unit which now offers a modern parent-child center at the CHU while awaiting entry into the new establishment. It set up the GHT (territorial hospital group) of Guadeloupe and consolidated that of the northern islands. It has carried out seismic audits of all health and medico-social establishments and financed numerous upgrades of these establishments.
Valérie Denux has also invested in other sectors such as the provision of primary care, the medico-social field, public health and health professionals.
All these actions, it should be remembered, were carried out in a context of almost permanent crises with the aftermath of hurricanes IRMA and Maria, the fire at the CHU, the social crises of 2019 and 2021, the sargassum groundings, the heaviest Dengue epidemic in years and of course the COVID pandemic for two years.
Valérie Denux therefore leaves the ARS after 4 very intense years. She will now join the metropolis in a function full of new challenges.
It is Laurent Legendart, a native of Martinique, who will succeed him at the head of ARS Guadeloupe. _AF
We won't regret it!
