Deconfinement: It's time to resume a semblance of normal life

0

Nearly two months after being put under a bell to limit the progression of Covid-19, Saint-Martin is preparing to come back to life, starting today May 11. The daily life of the Saint-Martinois will be very different from the one they knew before March 17, but they will be able to resume their work and return to social life with the inevitable threat that the contagions will start again.

The pursuit of “barrier gestures” (physical distance, hand washing) combined with the wearing of a mask will indeed be decisive in order to keep the virus under control. "The behavior of the people of Saint-Martin will be the key to success in stemming the Covid-19 epidemic.

The new case identified this weekend calls for the greatest vigilance. An investigation to identify contact cases is under way. People with even minimal symptoms are also reminded to contact their doctor, who may order a screening test if they deem it necessary. "If other cases were to be confirmed, the progressive deconfinement would be postponed and a new decision on strict confinement could be taken. It is imperative to respect the “barrier gestures” and the preventive measures, for the health of all ”, specifies the Prefecture.

BARS, CAFES, RESTAURANTS

If the opening date of bars, cafes and restaurants is still not determined, a health protocol must be put in place and validated in the coming days, shops and outdoor markets are authorized to reopen this Monday 11 May, always with strict compliance with the health protocol.

Otherwise, individual outdoor sports are allowed, once again respecting “barrier gestures”.

However, water sports, individual indoor sport, and all team sports are still prohibited. Remember that walking on the beach and swimming in the sea are again authorized on all the beaches of Saint-Martin, since Friday, May 8. However, barbecues and gatherings on the beach are prohibited until further notice.

Regarding the reopening of schools, after several tripartite working meetings between the Collectivity, the Rectorate and the Prefecture of Saint-Martin-Saint-Barthélemy, the decision was made to authorize only the opening of CP classes , the double classes of CP / CE1 and CM2 in all the primary schools of Saint-Martin, from May 18 next.

The period of deconfinement does not mean the end of the epidemic. We will now have to learn to live with the virus, respect “barrier gestures”, measures of social distancing in all circumstances without forgetting to wear a mask in all public places!

Successful deconfinement means advancing together, remaining united to come out stronger from this difficult ordeal.
