A cyclone passed over Guadeloupe on June 8 and a second was expected yesterday in the middle of the day on Saint-Martin. This is the scenario imagined by the armed forces of the Antilles-Guyana as part of a training exercise to assist the affected population.

Soldiers, gendarmes, State and Community services are mobilized for two days to manage the crisis in Saint-Martin. The exercise took place yesterday at Grand Case airport where a departmental operational center (COD) was set up. Today, the armed forces will train at the Belle Créole.

The services will in particular have to organize the evacuation of the population, the security of the territory, manage communication, etc.

This exercise called Caribbean began last week in Guadeloupe and will end on June 17. "It is of an unprecedented scale by bringing together 2500 participants from five countries, France, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic", specifies the army.

The objective is to put into practice the intervention instructions in the event of a natural disaster, to evaluate the capacities of the services to intervene together and to see the faults in order to be able to fill them and thus be as effective as possible in the event of an event. .
