Guadeloupe tour

The Vélo Club de Grand-Case will be at the start of the 65th edition of the Guadeloupe Cycling Tour which begins this Friday, July 31, in Pointe-à-Pitre. Turpin and his family will be keen to wear the colors of their club loud and clear.

Sixteen local teams as well as eight invited teams will therefore compete, for 10 days, during 9 stages, including the famous ascent of the Saint-Claude wall. Guaranteed show!

"All the ingredients are there for a great tour", underlines Philibert Mouëza, the president of the Regional Committee of Guadeloupe. “What we have been trying to do for the past 3 years is that the Tour has not already been played after only two stages. The ideal is to experience twists and turns until the last weekend, ”adds Fritz Samut, the regional technical advisor.

Like the 2014 edition won by the Venezuelan Jhon Nava (UCM), the runners will climb the mythical wall of Saint-Claude, to the great pleasure of the public. “It's an important step, it's like when we talk about Tourmalet, notes Philibert Mouëza. “This is the stage where there are the most people, which shows that the Guadeloupeans are impatiently awaiting it. It will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of this 2015 Tour, like the two passages in Les Mamelles (5th stage, Vieux-Habitants - Goyave, and 7th stage, Pointe-Noire - Le Moule). Or the two individual time trials on the program, the first with the Saint-Claude wall to dominate (7,5 km, starting from Gourbeyre), the second, at Abymes (20 km), on the eve of the final stage, which will designate the big winner at Basse-Terre ”.

This is the program that awaits the team at the Vélo Club de Grand-Case in Guadeloupe. There is no doubt that the fervent supporters of the VCG will listen to the results obtained daily by the Turpin, Blondin, Rousseau, Errin, Parra and Noyon. Go the VCG! _AF
