Photo Caraïbes and La Ti Expo welcome Laurent Bayly!

0

Also known as a teacher, union, political and associative activist, Laurent Bayly has been a photographer for over 20 years. Self-taught, he takes a wandering photography inspired by Street Photography. His work is highlighted until the end of December at Photo Caraïbes.

It is in Saint Martin where it has been installed for more than 10 years that it went from the strict black and white argentic to the digital color. He travels the territories like elsewhere near or far, trying to extract a poetic strangeness obscured by everyday life, the incessant flow of media, advertising, stereotypical images that tend to alienate our gaze and thereby our thinking. In addition, he runs a photo workshop with young people within the Cobraced association, participates in numerous exhibitions with the Head Made Factory collective and the Axum Art café in Philipsburg. He recently collaborated with the Press (France Americas magazine, Le Monde…)

He also undertook to document musical life in Saint Martin, often operating a return to black and white.

His work can be seen on his site laurentbayly.com, the Facebook page Laurent Bayly photographies and on Instagram laurentbayly
