CULTURE: Inauguration of “Caribbean Ties/Links” exhibition at Robert Weinum high school

0

Liens Caribeens, peoples connected yesterday and today / Caribbean Ties, connected people then and now, is an international exhibition that reflects the complex diversity that existed in the Caribbean archipelago before 1492. Its exhibition took place on Thursday, January 12 at the Robert Weinum high school CDI in the presence of many guests.

The inauguration was a highlight yesterday at the LEGT Robert Weinum with a guided tour by the archaeologist and the head of the collections department of the Edgar Clerc departmental museum, Katarina Jacobson. A tasting of appetizers made from cassava and corn, in homage to our Amerindian heritage, specially concocted by the assistant principal, Patrick Martin, delighted the taste buds of the guests.

A cultural diversity that remains a living reality today

Combining local, regional and global perspectives, the exhibit focuses on the connections between past and present Indigenous cultures and present-day multi-ethnic communities in the Caribbean, and thus explores the living and current impact of Native American heritage.

Liens Caribeens, peoples connected yesterday and today / Caribbean Ties, connected people then and now was designed in collaboration with researchers, cultural institutions, representatives of indigenous communities, designers and members and leaders of island communities in the Caribbean.
