COVID-19: Over 38160 cases have been confirmed in the Caribbean

In the Caribbean in mid-June, 38163 confirmed cases of covid-19, more than 15550 additional cases since our assessment three weeks ago.

Three countries account for almost 90% of the cases: this is the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Haiti with 23686, 5951 and 4547 confirmed cases, respectively. Of the 15550 additional cases recorded in the past three weeks, 97% are also registered in these three countries.

With Cuba and Jamaica which have 2273 and 621 respectively, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Haiti form the Top 5 of the Caribbean islands most affected by covid-19.

In terms of number of cases, Sint Maarten is in 13th position and Saint-Martin in 14th position. If we consider the entire island, it is the 10th most affected territory with a total of 119 confirmed cases (42 on the French side and 77 on the Dutch side).

The islands with the most infected people in relation to the number of inhabitants are the Dominican Republic, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin with ratios per 1000 inhabitants varying from 2,23 to 1,19. (soualigapost.com)
