Covid-19: the government announces new aid for hotels, cafes and restaurants

Last Tuesday, the Prime Minister announced reinforced support for two months for companies with fewer than 250 employees in certain sectors affected by the restrictions linked to the health crisis. These are hotels, restaurants, caterers, events and travel agencies.

Weakened by the fifth wave of Covid-19, some companies were waiting for a new boost from the government. This Tuesday, the Prime Minister announced increased support for two months for companies with fewer than 250 employees who have accumulated a loss of turnover due to Covid-19. Among those concerned, hotels, restaurants, caterers, events and travel agencies.

“Exceptional help”

In detail, “in December and January”, companies with fewer than 250 employees losing at least 30% of their turnover due to the restrictions taken to curb the virus will be entitled to “exceptional aid for the payment of employee contributions “, an amount equal to 20% of their payroll, declared Jean Castex, during a trip to a Parisian brasserie.

Currently, establishments under health restrictions can benefit from support if their turnover has decreased by 50% only. For the head of government, the reassessment of this threshold was necessary.

For companies with less than 250 employees, impacted by more than 65% of their turnover by this painful period, the boost will be more substantial. They will receive, for December and January, this same aid for the payment of 20% employee contributions, but they “will also be exempt from employer charges”, announced the Prime Minister.

At present, all companies losing 65% of their turnover due to health restrictions have access to reimbursement of partial activity at 100% without remaining charge, he recalled. Those in tourism that lose at least 50% of their turnover see all of their fixed costs covered.
