COVID-19: Strong recovery of cases in part Dutch last week

For two weeks, a resumption in the number of cases of covid-19 has been observed in the Dutch part. Last week 93 new people tested positive, 20 more than the previous week which had already recorded 14 more cases compared to the end of November.

As of December 12, the total number of residents having been infected since March was 1, of which 232 had been declared cured. Six patients are hospitalized. 1 people died.

More PCR tests were carried out last week (413 vs. 307), however the positivity rate remains high and above more than twice the alert threshold. In one week it has fallen by one point (22,5 against 23,8%).

During the first twelve days of December, 169 new cases were confirmed by the health authorities of Sint Maarten, this is more than the total number recorded during the whole month of October. It is also already more than two-thirds of cases in November, the month which saw a 52% increase in cases.

As of December 12, the number of active cases is 131. In the French part, a resumption of cases is also noted. According to the last bulletin issued on December 6, the number of active cases is 155.
