On January 14, 2021, the Prime Minister announced the advancement of the curfew from 20:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. throughout the metropolitan territory from Saturday January 16, 2021 for a minimum duration of 15 days. At this time, this measure is not applied in the territories of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin.

An increase in Covid-19 cases in our territories was noted last week. The end of year celebrations contributed to this upsurge. The Prefecture reiterates the importance of the application of barrier gestures and the wearing of a mask by the entire population.

The measures taken at the national level have not yet been applied in Saint Barthélemy and Saint-Martin. This exceptional configuration, linked to our territories, should not exempt every citizen from remaining vigilant. In the event of a continuous increase in cases, the regulatory provisions will evolve.

Barrier gestures must be scrupulously applied, as must the wearing of a mask, compulsory in all the streets frequented in the two territories. As of today, controls will be stepped up, particularly in establishments open to the public and will give rise to verbalizations if necessary. It is essential to maintain vigilance at all times so that the current situation does not deteriorate further. Each citizen is responsible in this context of health crisis.

Advice from the Prefecture of Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin:

• wash your hands regularly;

• always wear the mask;

• avoid contact by keeping a distance of at least one meter from others;

• limit social contacts and gatherings as much as possible (less than 6 people);

• ventilate the rooms for 10 minutes 3 times a day;

• Greet without shaking hands and do not kiss.

Let us be vigilant, do not let our guard down!
