A slight increase is observed this week, which confirms that the virus continues to circulate actively in the territory.

For the week of February 8 to 14, there are 77 new cases in the territory of Saint-Martin against 75 the previous week, including 18 permanent residents of Saint-Martin against 31 the week before. Taking into account the consolidated data from previous weeks, this brings to 1 the number of cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed in the French part.

1 additional tests were carried out (PCR and antigens carried out by healthcare professionals in the area), for a total of 245 tests recorded.

The weekly incidence rate is still above the alert threshold with a rate slightly higher than the previous week, standing at 215/100 000 inhabitants against 210/100 000 inhabitants the previous week.

The weekly positivity rate is slightly higher compared to last week, it is now 6,2% (vs 5%).

The increase in indicators should lead us to maintain a high level of vigilance, bearing in mind that this week the age groups in which the rate is the highest are 45-64 years with a rate of 373/100 000 inhabitants.

5 cases of the 20I / 501Y.V1 variant (English variant) of SARS-CoV2 have been confirmed to date in Saint-Martin. The situation is “up and down” and remains worrying: the emergence of new, more contagious variants, the persistence of air rotations between islands and from abroad, etc. are all risk factors for a lasting and worrying increase in new contaminations. As a reminder, travelers regardless of their origin must now justify a compelling reason and be provided with a negative PCR test of less than 72 hours when arriving in the territory. They must respect a 7-day isolation at the end of which they will have to repeat a PCR test.

As of February 15, 4 confirmed Covid patients were hospitalized in the medical department of the establishment in Marigot.

The drive installed at the Louis-Constant Fleming hospital has been relocated to the immediate vicinity of the Mc Do in Marigot to help relieve congestion in the hospital, whose vaccination center is growing in size. This move has not impacted the way this screening offer works, which remains open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The drive carried by the red cross, accessible at Hope Estate, is reserved for travelers and tourists staying on the French side. It offers PCR tests in the morning, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. then antigenic tests from 11:30 a.m. to 14 p.m. and on Saturdays from 00 a.m. to 8 p.m. for PCR and antigen tests.
