"Saint-Martinoise 2016" race
For its fourth edition, The “Saint-Martinoise”, 100% female race and walk, organized by the Avenir Sportif Club de Saint Martin, gathered last Saturday, nearly 230 women in the streets of Marigot.
After a collective warm-up, led by Caroline from SXM Fitness, the start was given at 16 p.m. on the Marigot market by the President of the Community, Mrs Aline HANSON. Claudine Patini Mellot, a runner from Martinique, took the lead to cross the finish line first in 21'06 ''.
In the Walk category, Lisa Coquillas, licensed from ASCSM and Guadeloupe champion in the 2m walk, crossed the finish line in 000'36 ''. Despite the gloomy weather which surely explains the drop in the number of participants this year, walkers and runners all completed the 24 km course and crossed the finish line, in a good mood.
It is in music that the event continued with the choreographer Deyon who led “Les Saint-Martinoises” in a frenzied African Soca Dance session. While waiting for the results, each participant was presented with a medal and a diploma certifying that she had completed the course. The prizes were then awarded by Mrs. Aline HANSON, as well as by Mr. Guillaume ARNELL, senator and Mr. Alain Gros Désormeaux, elected in charge of sports of the Collectivity of Saint Martin. The afternoon then ended with the eagerly awaited raffle where more than thirty gifts were offered by the many sponsors who responded and supported this fourth edition:
