Coronavirus: The Caribbean has 786 active cases of Covid-19 and 27 deaths

The cases of Covid-19 unfortunately increase over the days in the Caribbean. The health situation in the Dominican Republic is today dramatic. Only the neighboring island of Anguilla has not yet been affected.

Barbados

On March 23, the Minister of Health announced 17 confirmed cases that are in isolation. Last weekend, 11 people tested negative.

BVI

The British Virgin Islands have confirmed two cases. One of the patients is 56 years old, a resident who returned from Europe on March 15.

Dominique

The island which had 7 cases on Tuesday, now has 11. Ten of them are in the same region.

Jamaica

The island has 25 confirmed cases and one death. Schools have been closed since March 13 and the government announced this week that they will remain closed until at least Easter.

Saint Lucia

Authorities have confirmed three cases, two of which were repatriated to the United Kingdom on March 24 and 25. The third case is cured but remains in isolation.

Antigua (Antilles)

2 confirmed active cases.

Montserrat

1 confirmed active case.

Puerto Rico

51 cases including 49 active. Two deaths have been recorded.

Dominican Republic

393 cases including 379 active. Ten deaths have been recorded. Outbreaks of the virus are in all regions of the country. Danilo Medina, President of the Dominican Republic, imposed a curfew from 20 p.m. to 6 a.m. Which causes dramatic scenes. The police shot dead a man who was running away from controls during curfew hours.

Jenny Polanco, the world famous Dominican stylist, died 9 days after returning from a business trip to Spain. She was 58 years old.

Within 24 hours, more than a hundred new positive cases were recorded.

Cayman Islands

6 active cases. One death has been recorded.

Cuba

57 cases including 55 active. One death has been recorded.

Guadeloupe

76 confirmed cases. One death has been recorded.

Martinique

66 confirmed cases including 64 active. One death has been recorded.

St Vincent

1 confirmed active case.

Grenade

1 confirmed active case.

Trinidad and Tobago

60 cases and one death.

Curaçao

6 confirmed cases including 3 active. One death has been recorded.

Aruba

19 confirmed cases including 18 active.

Saint-Martin

11 confirmed cases including 9 active.

St Maarten

3 confirmed active cases.

Anguilla is the only island in the Caribbean not to be affected.
