Coronavirus: Veterinary drugs useful in the fight against Covid-19

0

Following the decision of the Minister of Solidarity and Health responsible for authorizing by decree the use of certain veterinary drugs also having a license for human medicine, the prefecture of Guadeloupe, at the request of the ARS has published a requisition order relating to certain veterinary drugs used in anesthesiology in particular.

The objective of this decree was to inform and mobilize all players in veterinary medicine - veterinarians, pharmacists, wholesalers, custodians - likely to have them in stock so that they can declare them and then make them available to those involved in hospital health at Pointe-à-Pitre CHU or Basse-Terre CH. Each pharmacy, each veterinarian was thus invited to raise its stocks. This approach has been implemented throughout France.

To date, the mobilization of veterinarians in our archipelago has enabled the collection of 77 multi-dose vials corresponding to the drugs sought. Thanks to their courier, the ARS made all of these medicines available to the CHU pharmacy on Thursday evening.

These two specialties PROPOSURE® and PROPOVET® harvested are the exact replica of specialties used in human medicine. They usefully inflate the stocks of products in stock at the hospital. The objective of the operation remains to anticipate the needs of the hospital, especially if the number of patients in intensive care continues to increase. The number of resuscitation beds that can be increased from 27 during ordinary periods to 75 if the epidemic wave is strong.

The ARS specifies that an approach of the same type is underway to allow animal biology structures to contribute directly to the performance of diagnostic tests for Covid19 in humans.
