On December 21, prefect Vincent Berton invited the press for a second visit to the construction sites of college 900 in Savane and college 600 in Quartier d'Orléans. For the latter, the work are progressing on schedule with the first new building almost complete.
As a reminder, the titanic project began on July 20, 2022 for a budget of 22 million euros financed by the State and the Community. A particularity for this project unlike that of the digital college 900 de la Savane, it takes place on an occupied site with the presence of students during the academic year. Consequently and following the decision of the president of the Community Louis Mussington, twelve air-conditioned mobile classes were installed on the edge of the La Roche Gravée de Moho college which has remained active since the start of the work for an amount of 1,5 million euros and dedicated to 450 students. Thanks to this system, the construction project on an occupied site for Middle School 600 made it possible to shorten the delivery time initially planned for December 2027 for the start of the school year in September 2025. 600 students will follow their education in 34 classrooms over an area of 6000m2.
The school is designed with sustainable development in mind, with natural ventilation of the premises and the use of responsible materials. As the Quartier d’Orléans college is part of the priority education network, resources have been reinforced. The rotation of students between the old classes and the mobile classes is carried out perfectly, allowing the project to evolve according to the deadlines established by the roadmap. At the end of February, students should be able to integrate into the new building. During the March 2024 vacation phase, the old buildings will be destroyed. Initially scheduled for June 2025, delivery is somewhat delayed until September 2025 due to environmental issues and the supply of products to European standards. The long-awaited gymnasium-dojo will indeed be delivered, to accommodate more than 150 children on weekends supported by local associations with a view to total diversity. _VX
