It was Rita Indiana who won over the international jury of the last Caribbean Writers' Congress, in Guadeloupe. The Dominican writer was awarded the Grand Prix Littéraire for her novel “La Mucama de omicunle” published in 2015. The author, who is also a singer, succeeds Simone and André Schwarz-Bart. Note that in 2011, Rita Indiana entered the ranking of the newspaper El Pais of the 100 most influential Latin American personalities. At the ACTe Memorial, this 5th congress was also the occasion to appoint a new president within the Association of Caribbean Writers: the Haitian writer Lyonel Trouillot, who succeeds Earl Lovelace, novelist, playwright and journalist from Trinidad and Tobago. _EH
