On an island with a climate and landscapes so blessed by the Gods, golf could only find a chosen land! And Golf in St Martin completes the incredible range of activities that are offered throughout the year to our visitors, as well as to its inhabitants.

The Concordia Cup thus completes the calendar of major sporting competitions which animate St Martin in all fields, in the wake of the “BillFish Tournament” and the “Heineken Regatta”, two world-renowned events in the fields of Big Game fishing and Regatta .

To say that this competition is international is an understatement because it is the symbol of the incredible originality of this small island on which have coexisted in peace for more than 360 years, on the same territory, two nations, without borders. A bit like a symbol, every year on the anniversary of Saint Martin, it is therefore the representatives of these two nations who face each other in a prestigious match which bears the name of Concordia Cup in tribute to the Treaty of Concordia of 1648 which established the rules of this harmony.

A bit like members of the same family, between whom a true affection remains but which the chances of history have led on different paths, this reunion is a moment of true communion in a common passion, embellished with a shock. cultures and a sporting rivalry which has the inimitable taste of "derbies".

Because make no mistake, this is a high level competition which establishes for a year a certain form of leadership on the Golf of our island! And if the youth of the Saint-Martin team faced with the seniority of that of Sint Maarten could in the first editions sometimes make one think of David's fight against Goliath, this time is now over and the recent French victories now establish that "French-style" golf has indeed become a major golf course on our island.

It is indeed one of the other issues that this clash of cultures between the Sint Maarten part, with more Anglo-Saxon and international references, facing Saint Martin who defends and brings in this Caribbean universe, at the gates of the Americas, another vision. aesthetics, humanism… and the game of golf.

So just as the first victories of the European team against historic American hegemony in the Ryder Cup had a special flavor and brought a new breath to world golf, the victories of the French side in the Concordia Cup instilled a new dimension to the game of Golf on our island, for the benefit of all and of the game of Golf.

Thus, and after several unsuccessful attempts, Saint Martin has registered its name on the 2008, 2010 vintages (Editor's note: and also 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020). This means that 2021 will be disputed!

And, as a symbol of the universality of this sport and of the tradition of hosting our Islands where more than 110 nationalities coexist, this year again the teams of 18 participants each will randomly bring together selections of players from more than 8 different nations, the Caribbean, Europe, North and South America.

It also means that this competition will once again be a great human celebration, friendly and fraternal.
