Press release: The health situation has deteriorated in the islands of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin

Update with the health authorities and the Prefecture

of the Northern Islands.

During the week of Monday July 26 to Sunday August 1, 2021, the epidemiological situation, for Saint-Martin, deteriorated with a very significant increase in the number of cases, this should alert us and mobilize us. For Saint-Barthélemy, the health situation remains at a high plateau this week again. We must remain mobilized, especially since the situation is tense in mainland France and in the other French territories of the Caribbean.

   Saint-Martin :

For the week of July 26 to August 1, 2021 (week 30, data stopped on July 31), there are 138 new cases in the territory of Saint-Martin, a figure that is sharply increasing since 63 new cases were identified in week 29, knowing that the number of tests remained at a high level with more than 2 tests performed during the week. 948 new positive cases were recorded, in parallel, by Public Health France (SPF) .112 Taking into account the consolidated data of the previous weeks, this brings to 1 the number of cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed in the territory (SI data -DEP SPF). It should be noted that since 2/713/02 (current week 08), 2021 new cases of COVID have been recorded out of 31 analyzes carried out.

   Saint-Barthélemy:

For week 30 (data stopped on August 1), there are 167 new cases in the territory of Saint-Barthélemy, 168 new positive cases are recorded by SPF in parallel. This brings the number of cumulative confirmed coronavirus cases to 1 (SI-DEP SPF data). Since 336/02/08 (current week 2021), 31 new cases of COVID have already been recorded out of 33 analyzes carried out, still confirming the circulation of the virus in this territory.

   Hospitalized and deceased

The CH Louis-Constant Fleming and the CH de Bruyn remain very mobilized on the management of the crisis. On August 4, 13 confirmed COVID patients were hospitalized at the LCF hospital center, the 3 confirmed COVID patients hospitalized at Bruyn hospital center were evacuated to the Louis Constant Fleming hospital center. During week 29, there was a medical evacuation of a patient from Saint-Barthélemy confirmed COVID to the hospital center of Guadeloupe, whose death is to be deplored on his arrival at

CHU. We also deplore the death of a patient from Saint-Martin hospitalized in the intensive care unit at the CHU de Guadeloupe.

Since the start of the health crisis 41 residents of the northern islands have died.
