Communication: The Tourist Office launches its new website

0

Last Wednesday, the Tourist Office launched its new website. Accessible from the same address (www.st-martin.org) in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese, the site aims to be more modern, attractive and functional both for visitors or future tourists and for local professionals whose services are provided. value.

The management team worked with the company Faire-Savoir based in the north of France so that this new platform is a real showcase for the French side. It lists in three sections (Discover-Enjoy-Stay) leisure activities, places to visit, restaurants and accommodation*.

Internet users are also invited to discover “really friendly experiences” via videos. Today, for example, “a day aboard a pleasure boat” or “a flight over Saint-Martin in a gyrocopter” are published. This section is intended to be updated on a regular basis.

You can also search for your activity, restaurant, beach, etc., according to your desires thanks to the “inspiration engine”. On the home page, the Internet user selects what he wants to do (enjoy the beach, have a drink, go shopping, a bit of history, organize an event, etc.) and with whom (with family, alone, in love, etc.), then he clicks on “surprise me!” and gets a list of activities and services.

Each establishment mentioned is geolocated on a map and in addition, other activities in the area are suggested. For example, if an Internet user looks at the page of a restaurant, he can also see on the same page the activities and hobbies that it is possible to practice.

During the design of this new site, the management of the tourist office emphasized the quality of the content in terms of texts, photos and videos. Also she recruited the time of a mission an editor and a photographer. The latter visited as many establishments as possible and produced individual “files”.

Each restaurant, each hotel, each activity company has a page with photos, presentation text, practical information. So that the information indicated is most often updated (and therefore not outdated), each socio-professional has personalized access to his page and can thus modify a text himself, add or remove a photo. Links are also set up to direct the Internet user to the professional's site. Professionals who do not appear on the site can contact the office.

With this new site, the tourist office hopes to further promote the French side and increase its audience. In 2021, the old platform had recorded 52 visitors (+000% in one year) and 625 page views. More than half of the visitors are from the United States, 202% from mainland France and 000% from Canada.

* If certain beaches and other natural sites of the Dutch part are presented, concerning commercial activities, only those of the French part are.
