The SXM gym club for the new season has registered a strong increase in the number of its members.
The association has therefore set up a new organization to respond to this influx of new recruits. Our school had to adapt and organized itself into a “leisure gym” and “competition gym”. Our gymnasiums after detection, are grouped either in leisure groups (initiation / improvement) or competition (performance) for the more seasoned.
Today, the club has 18 leisure groups, (from 18 months to 18 years old) 5 pre-competition groups (from 6 years old to 12 years old) and 5 competition groups (7 years old to 15 years old).
At the beginning of April, 4 teams will travel to participate in the Guadeloupe championship (chick, youngest, minimal and junior team).
For many years our club has been known for its results. To progress in this direction, we had to work on the integration of new recruits without experience for the competition; this is particularly the case in chicks. The club has therefore planned two inter-club pushy gym competitions to define the typical team that will travel to Guadeloupe for the championship.
The first selection took place on Saturday December 17th, the second will take place on Saturday March 4th at Hope Estate. At the end of this second session, the typical team will be formed.
The “Gym course” competition will take place in Bel Air on Saturday March 18 from 14:30 pm. About a hundred young people got involved.
This competition will assess young people between 7 and 11 years old, who practice the gym, one to two hours per week. The evaluation of this competition (by allocation of points) will be sanctioned by the delivery of a GOLD, Silver or Bronze diploma.
Finally, for older children, a preparatory phase will be organized on Sunday March 19 at Bel Air (Asha Steven School) from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. to prepare for the individual territorial championships.
