The steering committee of the local health contract (CLS) met last Friday at the Hôtel de la Collectivité. Patrice Richard, the director general of the regional health agency (ARS) Guadeloupe / Iles du Nord, then presented to the press the actions implemented within the framework of this CLS (2014-2017) in the presence of the vice- president of the COM Ramona Connor, of the regional delegate of the ARS Pascal Godefroy and of the prefect Anne Laubies.

During this meeting, Patrice Richard recalled the six objectives of this local health contract. The first represents a whole challenge for the territory: "Reduce the overweight and obesity of the population, especially among young people, with two main axes: nutrition and physical activities", he explains. In terms of nutrition, the COM deployed nutritional education sessions at the Maison de solidarité et families. Regarding physical activities, the flagship action is to set up a secure sports course: at the media library, Galion and around Marigot. "Ultimately, the goal is to install them in each district," said the vice-president. "The idea is to reach people with chronic diseases, diabetes and high blood pressure as a priority," adds Richard. The second objective is to decrease the incidence of vector-borne diseases, such as dengue, chikungunya and, in the future, zika. "You must be very careful with zika, especially in pregnant women, because this disease can affect the fetus," said the director general. The third priority is to set up a local mental health council and to detect signs of ill-being, particularly among young people. The 2th objective is to detect cases of disability in children and the elderly. Ms. Connor mentioned that there was a conference at the start of the year on Alzheimer's disease. Training for caregivers is planned for the 3st quarter of 4. In order to detect signs of delay in children, the PMI doctor (maternal and infant protection) performs early screenings in nursery schools and daycare services. The 1th objective concerns the implementation of the youth health plan on access to rights. "We realize that young people are not informed enough," notes Patrice Richard, who also inaugurated last Friday's Espace santé jeunes, at Concordia. Regarding vaccination coverage, a new survey will soon be scheduled in the territory. Finally, 2016th and last point, the creation of a medico-social pole widely mentioned in the last Territorial Council.
