Ten months after the passage of the IRMA monster, the construction of the new transitional Prefecture of the Northern Islands began, last Thursday, with the laying of the foundation stone, in the presence of Philippe Gustin, Prefect of the Guadeloupe Region and interministerial delegate for the reconstruction, and Anne Laubiès, Prefect Delegate of the Northern Islands.

On September 6, the Prefecture located at Fort Louis also did not resist the passage of Hurricane IRMA. Since then, all of the services have been outsourced to prefabricated units. “This is a new step in the reconstruction. From next October, state personnel will be installed in suitable and above all perfectly secure premises, ”specifies Philippe Gustin.

A cost of 2,4 million euros excluding studies

The new building will bring together in a single place all the services of the Prefecture, as well as the territorial units of the Directorate of Environment, Planning and Housing (DEAL), the Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (DAAF), the Directorate of the Sea (DM) and the Directorate of Business, Competition, Consumption, Work and Employment (DIECCTE).

At a cost of 2,4 million euros excluding studies, the building will be constructed in high-quality modular structures, capable of withstanding strong winds and earthquakes. _AF
