Tribute ceremony for the soldiers of the Gendarmerie who died in service

The national ceremony of tribute to soldiers of the national gendarmerie who died in 2016 in the performance of their duty took place yesterday in Paris, at the Hôtel National des Invalides.

To pay a common and solemn tribute, a military ceremony was also organized yesterday morning at the Savane barracks.

 

A delegation of soldiers from the company, accompanied by flags and members and representatives of associations of veterans and victims of war, went, yesterday morning, at 9 a.m., to the cemetery of Marigot in order to meditate, at the 'occasion of a brief military ceremony, on the graves of the former Marshals who died on the territory of the Island of Saint-Martin (Gendarme on horseback MARIOT, died in 1868 at the age of 37 - Gendarme on horseback MICHAUD , died in 1881 at the age of 30 - Gendarme à cheval PROJEAN, date of death unknown).

A military ceremony then took place at the Savane barracks, in the presence of representatives of the State, the Collectivity, the civil and judicial authorities of Saint-Martin represented by the Vice-Prosecutor, Yves Paillard and the Veterans .

A wreath was laid at the foot of the “Major Raphaël CLIN - Brigadier David GOUARD” stele by the Deputy Prefect, Anne Laubies, accompanied by the Captain, Emmanuel Maignan.

Review of the troops, rise of the colors, ringing of the dead, Marseillaise, greeting of the participants by the personalities, punctuated this moving ceremony. AF
