Carnival 2016: another six days of festivities!

The first big parade took place last Sunday with the children's parade in the streets of Marigot. Place for adults who will parade Sunday and Mardi Gras from noon, always in the city center.
“This year, no less than 9 groups will parade through the streets for these parades”, specifies the association Festivities carnival of Saint-Martin (FCDSM). As is customary, the population will march in pajamas on Saturday from the village of Galisbay, from 4 am. Ash Wednesday will close the 2016 edition with the traditional “burnt Vaval”. The parade route is as follows: Rond-point d'Agrément (except for the open start at the carnival village) - Rue de Hollande - Rue de la République - Rue de la Liberté - Rue Kennedy - Rue de Low Town - Bellevue - Rue de Hollande - Agrément roundabout and return to the village. The association also organized activities in the village of Galisbay. Several concerts will take place from 20 pm: tonight, you can attend a soca show “Band clash II”; Saturday “Pure reggae”; Sunday “Zouk and more” and Wednesday videotape “Noir et blanc”.
The Tourist Office also celebrates carnival
As a reminder, the team of the Tourist Office of Saint-Martin invites this Friday the population to celebrate the 2016 carnival from 11h to 15h in its premises under the theme "Kanaval under the sea". A panel of events will be offered to visitors: exhibition of the Les Fruits de Mer association; sweets tastings; stands of local products and festive atmosphere.

Improvement of road traffic
Fat Sunday parade:
- temporary closure of a portion of rue de la République going from the intersection of rue de Hollande to the intersection of rue Victor Maurasse, from 5 am to 9 am;
- Parking is strictly prohibited in rue de la République and rue de Hollande from noon to 18 p.m.

Mardi Gras parade:
Parking is strictly prohibited on rue de la République and rue de Hollande from noon to 18 p.m.
